My Journey and Approach
About Callia Zimmerman
Hello, I'm Callia Zimmerman (she/her), founder of Birch Grove Therapy and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience. As a therapist, mother, and fellow human, I understand firsthand the delicate balance required to navigate life's many roles and challenges.
My journey in therapy began with a deep-seated desire to make a meaningful difference in people's lives, particularly those juggling the demands of caregiving – whether as parents or professionals. Over the years, I've honed my expertise in supporting women's mental health, perinatal wellness, and helping professionals seeking balance in demanding careers.
My approach to therapy is warm, down-to-earth, and tailored to each individual's unique needs. I draw from a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore your challenges, discover your strengths, and cultivate the life you envision.
As a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) therapist, I have specialized training in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. I'm also passionate about helping professionals in medical, education, and mental health fields prevent burnout and maintain their passion for their work.
When I'm not in session, you might find me exploring Vermont's beautiful hiking trails with my family or curled up with a good book. I believe in practicing what I preach – prioritizing self-care, nurturing relationships, and continually growing both personally and professionally.
Whether we meet in person at our South Burlington office or connect online, my commitment is to provide you with the support, tools, and insights you need to thrive. I'm excited to join you on your journey towards improved wellbeing, balance, and empowerment.
